You’re not meant to be alone

Relationship and Couples Therapy for Adults in CA

For those who feel like there is something about you that makes it hard to fit into community: you aren’t too special to be alone.

And I mean that in a radical, leftist, collectivist way. You deserve to feel loved whether you struggle with relationship OCD, cultural or gender dysphoria, LGBTQ+ community drama, non-monogamy isolation, chronic illness, or just straight-up trauma from being told you are too much of a burden to deserve love.

Together, we’ll help you find your voice, build relationships where you feel seen, and ask for what you need without sacrificing the things that make you who you are.

Hi, my name is Owen Renert (they/them). I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I love working with clients who are desperate to have lasting love in their lives, but feel like they sacrifice their identities just to fit in.

I’m a Third Culture Kid and have experienced cultural displacement my whole life, and had to code-switch into every social situation I’ve ever been in. Add in being nonbinary, neurodivergent, and chronically ill, and I felt like my identities were so complex that finding community that “fit” was never meant to be. I can tell you with confidence now that it is absolutely possible and, while not easy, absolutely worth it. I have taken what I’ve learned in the real world and combined it with my therapy training to help clients create community for themselves and feel secure in receiving love.

For individual therapy clients, I work with you on really looking at your identities and the role they play in how you move around the world. We examine systemic factors that keep you stuck and your own self-view. Then we look at your relational skills, where you want to be and where you are now, and then create a plan to heal from relational wounds to move you toward genuine connection. I teach you how to stop performing and start practicing real authenticity.

For my couples therapy or ENM clients, I examine the way you and your partner(s)’ identities interact and notice when there is dissonance stopping you from connecting. I provide a unique point of view that helps couples that come from very different backgrounds find systems that work and encourage one another to grow rather than settle for something that feels “good enough”.

I understand that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why my work focuses on the systems that shape us — from family and partners to culture and society — and how we can navigate them in alignment with who we truly are.

Let’s explore what healing looks like for you — authentically, collaboratively, and without judgment

I specialize in relationship therapy for couples, ENM systems and individuals. I have a special focus on Relationship OCD, Chronic Illness, Kink and ENM dynamics as well as Relationship Anxiety.

Sessions with me are direct, confrontational and grounded. We find the balance between creating safety and validation while also challenging areas that will help you reach your goals. I am the right therapist for people wanting to be challenged to see radical change and need the push to get there.

Each 50-minute session is $200 for individuals and $230 for couples. Intake sessions are $240 I also reserve a few sliding scale spots for those who may need financial flexibility. Clients are entitled to a "Good Faith Estimate" prior to beginning services detailing costs of therapy.

The consultation is a 15-minute video call where we explore what you're looking for, answer your questions, and see if working together feels like a good fit. You can book directly here.

That’s completely okay. The consultation is a great starting point — we’ll talk through what’s going on for you, and I’ll help guide you toward a plan that feels right.

If I'm not a good fit, I won't let you leave empty handed and will provide referrals to other therapists I think would be great for you.
